Sahajiya is a Folk Music Band which works with a wide range of Bengali Folk songs with varied rhythm, melody and philosophical thoughts. It includes the mystic Baul, Fakir, Darbesh to rustic songs of Bhatiyali, Bhawaiya, Jhumur. We are in a process of developing, evolving and producing a music where traditional Bengali folk instruments like Aktara, Dotara, Khamak, Dubki, Bamboo Flutes, Khol, Dhol, Madol, Ghungur, Mandira etc… and instruments from other part of the world like Cajon, Darbuka, Djembe, Shakers, Kuweeca, Kashishi, Chimes, Latin Percussion, Mandolin, Banjo, Ukulele, Acoustic Guitar, Acoustic Drums, Keyboard, Melodica, Bass Guitar etc… are played to give a new dimension to the traditional folk music of Bengal. It is ‘A Music with a difference’ which is completely unique yet universal, which comes from our soul, reaches to billions of hearts, irrespective of language, time & space. This musical journey becomes a philosophical journey with a rare blend of music, expression and emotion. It raises our mind to a cosmic sphere with a freedom of expression, mind, soul, existence and in-depth philosophical insight where at the end all the folk forms of the world and also of Bengal as well as India ultimately meet with complete harmony and resonate in the universal rhythm of the universe.
